Review: Tim Tebow’s Book for Homeschool High Schoolers
Tim Tebow has written a marvelous book just for homeschoolers. I recommend it. Let me tell you why.
First off, let me say that we are not affiliates for Tim Tebow. Our 7Sister, Kym, found the book and passed it to me. Looking at it, I was clear to me that this book can be a powerful addition to a homeschool high schooler’s Career Exploration credits.
The name of the book is long but necessary:
Know Who You Are. Live Like It Matters.: A Homeschooler’s Interactive Guide to Discovering Your True Identity
As you know, Career Exploration’s number one component is self-awareness. (If we don’t know how God made us, how can we know who God made us to become?)
Tim’s lovely little book is a 36-week interactive journal/guide for self-knowledge. He wrote it especially for homeschoolers (Tim and his siblings were homeschooled).
He covers topics such as:
- Doing things that matter
- Building Godly character
- Standing out in a crowd
- Building healthy relationships
Each week’s prompt includes a Scripture verse, some food for thought and writing prompts. The ideas that Tim shares in the book are not filled with a professional athlete’s typical bombast but rather, filled with the feeling that Tim knows about the fruit of the Spirit and the ways God glorifies himself through his children, and wants to share it with fellow homeschoolers.
Many people know Tim Tebow’s story. One of 5 children born to missionary parents, the family returned home to Florida when he was a child. A homeschool family, the Tebow’s were excited when Florida passed a law that homeschoolers could play sports on local high school teams. Tim began playing football through that law. He spent his summers in the Philippines doing missions work.
Tebow then went to the University of Florida and became the first college sophomore (and first homeschooler) to win the Heisman Trophy. He played professional football for several years then moved onto professional baseball.
Despite his professional success, Tim did not fall into the abyss of a self-centered lifestyle. Instead, he started a significant organization: Tim Tebow Foundation
Tim’s Foundation sponsors
Night to Shine A nationwide prom for teens with special needs
Timmy’s Playrooms in children’s hospitals around the globe
Orphan Care in 4 countries
Team Tebow which brings faith, hope, and love to people in their darkest hours
