We are looking at Ultimate Geography and Timeline Guide by Maggie Hogan and Cindy Wiggers (2009 3rd edition $39.95).
Sabrina picked up this text at a Great Christian Homeschool Conference and asked our homeschool geography-teaching friend, Melanie to review it.
Melanie reports that:
-The text includes a teacher refresher (important to those of us who are out of the loop- the world has changed since I took geography in 7th grade).
-It is easy to follow- even for those who have children at various grade levels.
-It includes activities at various age levels.
-There are plenty of "Interesting Facts" that add sparkle to the book.
-The sidebars are helpful. They show key points, tips, and supplies needed.
-A useful CD_ROM with maps, activities, reproducibles, and timelines.
The text also keys nicely with Cindy Wiggers' Trail Guide to World Geography (Teacher's Manual with Daily Geography Drills 2006 Revised Edition).
Melanie approves!
Ultimate Geography is published by Bright Ideas Press. They also publish Mystery of History by Linda Hobar (one of my favorite history texts). --Vicki

June 17, 2011 9:50 pmA wonderful geography teacher I know has her students draw a map of the world as a pretest and then at the end of the class as a post-test.
I love to travel, and studying geography helps me to find more places I'd like to see. The bucket list grows.
